Family Tech Talk Virtual Edition

We were thrilled to have Lynette Owens, Founder of Trend Micro Internet Safety for Kids and Family Program, host a webinar for BISB on Tuesday evening.

The last year has challenged us to rethink how we live, work, interact and view the world. It has become a delicate balancing act between keeping our kids and families safe from a pandemic, coming to terms with more screen time and managing the transformation of our homes into offices, classrooms and more.

Lynette hosted a conversation about the opportunities and challenges our families and kids have experiences with technology due to COVID-19. From Tik Tok to Zoom to Roblox, we heard some best practices on how to help our kids use the internet in safe and healthy ways. This included tech tips as well as guidelines and exercises you can use with your kids and you can access all of the handouts here:

We understand that this continues to be a concern and a balancing act for many parents and we want this to be the start of a helpful dialogue so that we can support each other. We also hope to put on some more webinars around this subject in the near future so watch this space for more information! Please do continue to let us know what your challenges or successes are and how we and the parent community can best support you. Our Facebook Group is a safe place for questions and dialogue or if you would prefer, don’t hesitate to email us at parents@bisboston.org.
